Joint Pipeline Coverage

Joint Pipeline Coverage

Noun

Joint pipeline coverage measures the value of qualified sales opportunities that a vendor and its partners are actively pursuing together, compared with their shared revenue target for a given period. It shows how much potential revenue is in play through joint selling efforts relative to what the teams need to close.

To calculate joint pipeline coverage, teams divide the value of qualified, jointly managed opportunities by their shared revenue target for the same period. For example, if a vendor and its partners are working on $1.5M in qualified opportunities against a $500K target, they have 3Ă— joint pipeline coverage.

In order to calculate the metric accurately, the vendor and its partners need to agree on what qualifies as a joint opportunity and how they attribute deals, so the same opportunity isn’t counted twice. Teams can also compare coverage across partners or regions to see where the joint pipeline is strongest and where more opportunities may be needed.

In B2B SaaS, joint pipeline coverage helps partner and sales teams assess whether their shared selling efforts are generating enough qualified opportunities to support their revenue target. If coverage is low, teams can focus on creating more opportunities together to help close the gap.

Example:

Nuvoradix, a B2B SaaS company, works with consulting partners to sell its data analytics platform. Together, the teams have $1.2M in qualified joint pipeline against a $400K quarterly revenue target, giving them 3Ă— joint pipeline coverage. By reviewing the pipeline together and avoiding duplicate opportunity costs, they can see whether their joint sales efforts are on track to meet the target.
