Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT supports custom MCP servers through Developer Mode on the web. Setup differs by plan, and on company plans an admin switches it on first.

NOTEDeveloper Mode is available on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts on the web. Free ChatGPT may not support custom connectors.
STEP 1

Enable Developer Mode

On Plus or Pro:

1Go to Settings → Apps → Advanced settings.
2Turn Developer Mode on.
3Confirm the warning. PartnerStack’s server is an official first-party server.
On Business, your admin sets up the connector. On Enterprise, an admin first grants access under Workspace Settings → Permissions & Roles → Connected Data, then you turn Developer Mode on yourself. Send your admin the server URL and this page.
STEP 2

Create the PartnerStack app

1Admins and owners: go to Workspace settings → Apps → Create. Authorized members: go to Settings → Apps → Create.
2Enter the name PartnerStack, the MCP server URL https://mcp.partnerstack.com/mcp, and choose OAuth for authentication.
3Click Scan Tools. When the PartnerStack sign-in opens, log in, choose the right instance and approve. Make sure pop-ups aren’t blocked.
4When the scan finishes, click Create. The app is saved as a draft with a Dev label.
STEP 3

Test it

1Open a new chat and select PartnerStack from the tools menu, or mention it in your prompt.
2Try: “Use PartnerStack to list my top 10 partnerships by created date.”
STEP 4ADMIN

Publish to your workspace

1Go to Workspace settings → Apps → Drafts and click Publish on PartnerStack.
2Use Configure Actions to choose which PartnerStack actions are allowed.
3Use Configure Access to choose which groups can use the app.
Once published, PartnerStack appears in users’ Apps settings with a custom label.
STEP 5

Use it in a conversation

1Select PartnerStack from the tools menu, or @mention it in your message.
2Selecting the app applies to that message only. Mention it again when a follow-up needs fresh data.
3ChatGPT may ask you to confirm before it creates or updates anything in PartnerStack.
DO I NEED MY IT TEAM?
Depends on your plan.
SELF-SERVE
Plus and Pro users can enable Developer Mode themselves.
WHEN IT IS NEEDED
Business: only admins and owners can use Developer Mode. Enterprise and Edu: an admin grants access and publishes the PartnerStack app first.

Connect any MCP client

Any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth can connect. The details are always the same: server URL, Streamable HTTP transport and browser sign-in on first use.

NOTERule of thumb: if a client asks for a URL, paste the endpoint directly. If it only asks for a command, use the mcp-remote bridge.
REMOTE CLIENTS

Cline, Windsurf, Goose, LibreChat and similar

1Add a remote or HTTP MCP server entry pointing to https://mcp.partnerstack.com/mcp.
2Complete the OAuth sign-in when prompted.
LOCAL-ONLY CLIENTS

Clients that only support local (stdio) servers

Some older or local-only clients can’t talk to a remote server directly. Bridge it with mcp-remote:

1Add the config below to your client.
2On first run, a local proxy starts, forwards requests to PartnerStack and opens the browser sign-in.
Client configCOPY
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "partnerstack": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.partnerstack.com/mcp"]
