Don't doubt your instincts — or your data

Regularly monitor your data to set performance benchmarks and identify anomalies that could point to fraudulent activity.

THE EXPERT

“There are a lot of things that could indicate fraud, from increased portal traffic to strange email domain names to spikes in referrals — which are often too good to be true. Monitoring your data every day can help you quickly identify abnormal performance.”

PartnerStack application

Start with the right tools

Managing your partner programs using PartnerStack means that all partner applications  are automatically scanned and suspicious partners are flagged based on their IP devices, logins and account updates. This helps prevent potentially fraudulent partners from applying to your program from the start.

Do your due diligence

Once a partner application has been received, do your own due diligence before accepting them into your program. Look at the partner's application form for sensible answers. Applications that don't make sense are an obvious red flag.

Monitor for suspicious activity

Monitor non-revenue generating conversions in your dashboard. Commissions paid on clicks, leads or free sign-ups are easier to fake and can attract more fraudulent partner activity than commissions based on paid transactions. Look for anomalies or unexplained spikes as well as formulaic or obvious patterns in either the partner or customer email addresses.

Review your Fraud management tab

Use PartnerStack’s Fraud management tab to review partners who have been flagged by the risk level and see their flagged behavior. You can choose to take action like removing these flagged partners from your program.

Remove flagged partners

Remove partners by navigating to the Fraud management tab. Click on the partner’s name and you’ll see details like their held commissions and the reason they were flagged. Click Remove partner. You can also block them from re-applying to your program. Tip: If you have a number of flagged partners, prioritize them based on the amount of commissions and sort those out first. Since being flagged does not disrupt the partner’s experience, those who are flagged who have yet to earn anything will not know or have their workflow interrupted.
